Understanding restorative care

What is restorative dentistry?

Restorative dentistry repairs teeth damaged by decay, cracks or wear, and replaces teeth that are missing.

Prosthetic work is led by Dr. Wook-Dong Kim, Dr. Sung-Ook Oh and Dr. Il-Hyun Kim; root canals and conservative care by Dr. Hyo-Jin Lee. Our in-house lab makes crowns and prosthetics on site.

Questions patients ask us

Restorative dentistry FAQ

What is the difference between restorative and cosmetic dentistry?
Restorative dentistry repairs function and health; cosmetic dentistry focuses on appearance. Many treatments, like crowns, do both.
Can I get restorative treatment during a short trip?
Fillings, root canals and crowns can often be done within a week or two. Implants usually need a second visit.
Is restorative treatment covered by insurance in Korea?
NHIS partly covers root canal treatment and some fillings. We work with TRICARE Dental and private insurers and give English receipts.
Who will treat me?
Prosthetic work is led by our prosthodontics team and root canals by Dr. Hyo-Jin Lee, all trained at SNU.
Do your dentists speak English?
Yes. Your dentist explains everything in English, and our coordinator Ms. Choi has helped international patients here for over 15 years.
