Gangnam Seoul · Fixed replacement for missing teeth

Dental Bridges in Gangnam Seoul

A dental bridge fills the gap left by one or more missing teeth with a fixed, natural-looking replacement. Our prosthodontics team designs it and our in-house lab makes it.

In short: a dental bridge is a row of joined crowns: the teeth (or implants) on each side of a gap hold an artificial tooth in between. It is fixed in place, so you do not take it out. A conventional bridge usually takes two visits about 1–2 weeks apart.

Understanding bridges

What is a dental bridge?

The supporting teeth either side of the gap are called abutments, and the replacement tooth is the pontic. Bridges can be made from zirconia, porcelain or porcelain fused to metal.

Dr. Wook-Dong Kim, Dr. Sung-Ook Oh and Dr. Il-Hyun Kim check the supporting teeth and bone first, so the bridge is built on a healthy base.

Most common

Traditional bridge

Crowns on the teeth either side support the new tooth.

  • Strong and long-lasting
  • Neighbouring teeth are reshaped
Alternatives

Resin-bonded or implant bridge

Bonded wings, or implants instead of teeth, hold the pontic.

  • Resin-bonded: minimal tooth reduction
  • Implant bridge: no natural teeth used

Good candidates

Is a bridge right for you?

  • One to a few missing teeth in a row
  • Strong teeth either side of the gap
  • Neighbouring teeth already need crowns
  • Implants are not suitable or preferred

Limitations

What to consider

  • Healthy neighbouring teeth are reshaped
  • Bone under the gap is not preserved
  • Cleaning under the bridge takes extra care
  • May need replacing after many years

For international patients

Getting a bridge during your time in Seoul

A traditional bridge can usually be finished in one stay of about 1–2 weeks. Our coordinator plans the two visits around your schedule.

  • Residents: most crowns are not covered by NHIS for adults; we confirm costs in writing first.
  • U.S. military families: we work with the TRICARE Dental Program.
  • Visitors: English treatment notes and receipts for your insurer.

A typical visit plan

  1. Before you arrive

Send X-rays or photos and travel dates.

  2. Day 1

Exam, X-rays and a written plan.

  3. Days 1–3

    Tooth preparation and temporary bridge.

  4. About 1–2 weeks later

If a root canal or gum treatment is needed first, allow more time.

Long-term care

Caring for your bridge

The supporting teeth must stay healthy for the bridge to last.

  • Clean under the pontic with floss threaders or a water flosser
  • Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste
  • Avoid biting ice or very hard food
  • Wear a night guard if you grind
  • Check-ups every 6–12 months

Questions patients ask us

Dental bridges FAQ

How long does a dental bridge take in Seoul?
A traditional bridge usually takes two visits about 1–2 weeks apart, with a temporary bridge in between.
How long does a bridge last?
With good cleaning and check-ups, bridges often last many years. Decay or gum disease in the supporting teeth is the usual reason they fail.
Bridge or implant — which should I choose?
An implant leaves neighbouring teeth untouched; a bridge avoids surgery and is quicker. We explain both after examining you.
How much does a dental bridge cost in Korea?
Cost depends on your diagnosis, the materials and the number of teeth or visits involved. After your examination we give you a written, itemised quote in English before any treatment begins.
Do your dentists speak English?
Yes. Your dentist explains everything in English, and our coordinator Ms. Choi has helped international patients here for over 15 years.
