Dental Implants in Gangnam Seoul

A dental implant replaces both the root and the crown of a missing tooth. Our prosthodontics team has provided implants in Gangnam since the 1990s.

In short: a dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone. It bonds with the bone over a few months, then supports a custom crown, bridge or denture. It suits most healthy adults with enough bone (or bone that can be grafted). Expect a 3D CT scan, minor surgery under local anaesthetic, healing, then your final tooth.

Understanding implants

What is a dental implant?

An implant has three parts: the post in the bone, a connector (abutment) and the crown you see. The bone grows tightly around the post (osseointegration).

Dr. Wook-Dong Kim, Dr. Sung-Ook Oh and Dr. Il-Hyun Kim plan and restore your implant, and your crown is made in our in-house lab.

One or a few teeth

Single implant or implant bridge

Replaces missing teeth without cutting down healthy neighbours.

  • Helps preserve the jawbone
  • Cleaned like natural teeth
Many or all teeth

Full-arch implant solutions

A fixed bridge or denture held by several implants.

  • Much more stable than a conventional denture
  • Implant number depends on bone and bite

Good candidates

Is an implant right for you?

  • One or more missing teeth, or a tooth that cannot be saved
  • Healthy gums, or gum disease already treated
  • Enough jawbone, or bone that can be grafted
  • You want a fixed tooth independent of neighbours

Things to discuss first

When we take extra care

  • Smoking, which slows healing
  • Uncontrolled diabetes or some bone medicines
  • Heavy grinding — a night guard may be advised
  • Thin upper-jaw bone (sinus lift may be needed)

For international patients

Planning implants around a trip to Seoul

Implants usually need two stays, because the bone must heal before the final crown. Our coordinator plans both visits with you.

  • Residents: Korean NHIS partly covers implants and dentures for eligible enrollees aged 65+.
  • U.S. military families: we work with the TRICARE Dental Program.
  • Visitors: English treatment notes and receipts for your insurer.

Questions patients ask us

Dental implants in Gangnam Seoul — FAQ

How long does a dental implant take in Seoul?
Usually about 2–6 months from placement to final crown, mostly healing time. The surgery itself is short.
Does getting an implant hurt?
It is done under local anaesthetic, so most people feel pressure rather than pain. Mild soreness for a few days is common.
How long do dental implants last?
With good cleaning and check-ups, implants can last many years. The crown may need replacing after some years of wear.
How much does a dental implant cost in Korea?
Cost depends on your diagnosis, the materials and the number of teeth or visits involved. After your examination we give you a written, itemised quote in English before any treatment begins.
Do your dentists speak English?
Yes. Your dentist explains everything in English, and our coordinator Ms. Choi has helped international patients here for over 15 years.
