Custom Mouth Guards in Gangnam Seoul

Grinding at night or playing contact sports? A custom-fitted mouth guard helps protect your teeth, and our dentists explain your options in English.

In short: a mouth guard is a removable cover for your teeth. Night guards protect against grinding and clenching during sleep; sports guards cushion the teeth during contact sports. A dentist-made guard is shaped to your own teeth, so it usually fits better and is more comfortable than a shop-bought one.

Understanding mouth guards

What does a mouth guard do?

A guard puts a layer between your upper and lower teeth, or over your teeth, to absorb force. It protects enamel, crowns and fillings from wear and knocks.

Your dentist will check your teeth, jaw and bite and advise which type of guard, if any, suits you.

For sleep

Night guard

A thin hard or soft guard worn at night.

For sport

Sports guard

A thicker, cushioned guard for training and games.

  • Boxing, martial arts, rugby, hockey, basketball
  • Protects teeth, lips and gums from impact

Caring for your guard

Making your mouth guard last

A little care keeps your guard clean and well-fitting:

  • Rinse after each use and brush gently with cool water
  • Store dry in its vented case
  • Avoid hot water and direct sun — they can warp it
  • Bring it to every check-up
  • Replace it if it cracks, thins or feels loose

Questions patients ask us

Mouth guard FAQ

Is a custom guard better than a shop-bought one?
Usually, because it is shaped to your teeth, so it stays in place and is easier to breathe and speak with. Store-bought guards can still offer some protection.
What is the difference between a night guard and a sports guard?
A night guard is thinner and protects against grinding during sleep. A sports guard is thicker and cushions the teeth from impact.
How long does a mouth guard last?
It depends on the material and how hard you grind. Bring it to check-ups so we can spot wear early.
Can I wear a guard with braces?
Yes, but it must allow for the braces. Ask your orthodontist first.
How much does a mouth guard cost in Gangnam?
Cost depends on your diagnosis, the materials and the number of teeth or visits involved. After your examination we give you a written, itemised quote in English before any treatment begins.
